Ateneo della Danza is situated in one of the most beautiful medieval cities in the world, Siena, Italy. Ateneo opened its doors in 2006 and is now considered to be one of the most important centers in Europe for Professional Dance Training. It includes, within its own program, the prestigious National Training Curriculum of the American Ballet Theatre in New York.

The Professional Training Program is open to dancers between the ages of 10 and 25, who are selected through an audition. Those who are accepted live and study in the heart of Tuscany following a program that aims to educate students in Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and offers a technical and theoretical preparation of the highest standard for dancing internationally. At the end of the program students are presented for their final exam at the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York for their diploma.

During their course of study, students enter into the world of dance through daily classes in ballet, pointe work, boys technique, pas de deux, contemporary dance, repertoire, barre au sol, character dance, contact improvisation, expressive theatre workshop, physiotecnical, Gyrotonic, Gyrokinesis, Pilates and theoretical lessons in anatomy, history of dance and nutrition. The school’s Professional Training course is an eight-year program giving its students an outstanding education in a caring environment for becoming a professional dancer. Students are monitored in their academic education that helps to support and develop their passion and prepares them for the expectations of International dance companies.

Ateneo della Danza is delighted to be audition dancers at MoveIt 2012 in London for scholarships for the Professional Training Program and the Intensive Summer School.

Auditions are open to all classical and contemporary dancers aged between 10 and 25 years. The audition will be held in the form of lessons of both ballet and contemporary dance, for which no preparation is required. The audition will be divided into age groups of 10-13 years, 14-16 years, and 17 and over. Please arrive at 18:00 whatever your age and you will be divided into groups.

This audition offers the opportunity to be seen by the Directors of the School and some students may be selected to receive a scholarship to attend the Intensive Summer School in Siena, Italy held from the 1st to 8th of July 2012 (including accommodation within the school) and should there be any really exciting talent, the Directors may offer scholarships to attend the Professional Training Program, also in Siena, Italy and also including accommodation within the school.

Students will be selected for inclusion in the Professional Training Program and this also gives them access to the Intensive Summer School, held in Siena. Some students may be selected for inclusion only in the Intensive Summer School as teachers would like to see them intensively for the eight days.

All candidates must be wearing the following outfit:
Girls outfit: Leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes, hair groomed in a bun.
Boys outfit: Fitted T-shirt, tights or academic, socks, ballet shoes.
